Oil on canvas painting. After the 1610 artwork titled Juno and Argus by Peter Paul Rubens, 1577 to 1640, a Flemish Baroque painter. The original is now in the Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Cologne. Rubens's painting represents the concluding scene from the story of Io. The giant Argus of the hundred eyes, whom Juno set to watch over Io, was murdered by Mercury. In memory of Argus Juno took his eyes and set them in the tail of her peacock. Signed in the lower right. Unframed. Collectible Fine Art, Historical Genre.
