The box is adorned with silver and gold overlay ornament such as the sphinxes and an applied rounded silver coin or a medallion with a portrait of an Empress surrounded by an inscription. The medallion is framed with a gold wire and surrounded by a filigree overlay decor set with gems. The gold clasp of the box is set with a gemstone. Sides of the box are decorated with overlay foliate decor. Hallmarked with a 56 gold standard and a 88 Russian silver standard and manufacturer marks. Comes with an original fitted box.
