A Pre Columbian Taino hand carved stone Guaiza mask or portrait. Guaizas were made to be exchanged between caciques as a form of friendship and a type of tribal bonding. The mask has two suspension hole located at the top of the head on the backside. The eyes are drilled through. The face is accentuated by raised embossing around the eyes and mouth.
