Rare 1813 Napoleonic War Battle of Leipzig (Mein und Gott) Iron Cross. The Iron Cross, issued by King Frederick William III of Prussia (German) to award bravery for participants and veterans of the battle as a memorial combat award. This is a prototype for the main German award Iron Cross. The Iron Cross is made in heavy iron metal, which is magnetic, with the relief lettering in the middle: Mein und Gott in German, or Mine and God in English. The Battle of Leipzig, also known as the Battle of the Nations, was a decisive conflict in the Napoleonic Wars fought from October 16 to 19, 1813, near Leipzig, Germany. In this large-scale battle, a coalition of forces from Russia, Prussia, Austria, and Sweden defeated Napoleon Bonaparte's Grande Armée.
