An antique Japanese Meiji era Satsuma porcelain vase. The vase has a circular base with a large curved body, and trumpet shaped flared rims. The vase is adorned with a polychrome Royal courtyard scene with images of oriental characters surrounded by gilded floral, foliage, geometrical and foliate scroll motifs. The base and the neck feature polychrome medallions representing flowers, waves, and assorted objects with gilded accents. The ware is adorned with a pair of figural handles made in a floral design with pierced through accents. Probably marked with a stamp on the bottom. Satsuma ware pieces were originally developed in Japan during the seventeenth century, specifically in the southern regions of the Japanese island of Kyushu.
